From the Irish (although there are many other versions...) fairy tale about seven brothers who are turned into swans by their stepmother and must be saved by their sister. She weaves seven nets out of nettles (ouch!) and throws them over their heads and they miraculously change back into humans, but she was not able to finish all seven nets in time, so one is stuck with a swan wing. Could be worse, I think.

yeah, i must have picked up a deviation. i know there's another one where it's two girls and two boys that get changed and they have to chill out on a whale's back. i love your icon BTW.
One of my favorite stories. I had a book when I was little of it. Weren't the nettles in a creepy ass cemetary or something? Maybe that was just the book I read's version.

oh yes, this was one of my favorite fairy tales as a child! i remeber i felt so sad for the brother left with a swan wing(now i think it's kinda cool). I like the flowy feel in the pic, lovely watercolors and i do love the hair on center, and bottom-center brother. Come to think about it, i think bottom-center is my favorite
So beautiful. I love the individuality of each of the boys ... I must go and look up this tale.
