They are the martyrs of their respective countries, so-called saints that were offerings to the chaos. They offered their lives to protect their tribes and loved ones, the most brutal and painful deaths ensuring a powerful spirit to guard the ones left behind. The manner of their death is found still etched onto their bodies.

The people of a dying country, desperate for a new and powerful guardian, sacraficed a babe- hoping the child's spirit would give them energy to stave off disease and invasion. But they did not take a life that was willing, and so the babe, unable to protect itself or voice it's outrage, sought revenge in the afterlife and cursed all who step foot on the now barren land it was created in.

Amazing story behind them. I think my favorite is the dark haired one with pirana mouths/bite marks all over him

OH gosh, thank you. I really had a lot of fun with all those bites and little teeth-- I think my favorite is the blue one, just because he becomes a major character later in the story. Uh--- a story I'm working on with :iconlokelani: called Oscura. Anyway, thanks very much!

Wow, all those effects and the coloring are gorgeous! I especially like those two characters in blue, watery shades. And the person with wounds (mouths?) all over her body- gosh they look disturbingly realistic.
